There are 2 systems by which Home Care can be delivered – Private or Government subsidised. Sometimes, a comination of both can achieve the desired results.
AgeLink can give you information on both systems – for some people paying for services without going through assessments may be a good alternative.

There are 2 programs in the Government subsidised Aged Care Sector, both delivered under the Consumer Directed Care model.
1. The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). This program is a fee for service program, and you can ask for one or more services to help you maintain your independence and quality of life.
2. The Home Care Packages Program (HCP). This program provides a “package of services” which can be managed by the client or the service provider.
There are 4 levels of subsidy, from Level 1 to Level 4.  There are fees for Home Care Pacakages. (If you cannot afford the fees, there may be relief under “Financial Hardship” provisions)
The Government subsidised system of Home Care has a process which starts with contacting My Aged Care.
The process is
1 Contact My Aged Care
2. After giving all your details to MyAgedCare, you will be screened and your eligibilty will be checked.
3. If eligible for services, an Assessment will be arranged.
4. The assessment
5. Services implemented to ensure you maintain your quality of life.

Agelink understands that the system can be overwhelming and will support you in obtaining quality, value services.
